The Full Story

In 2022, Division 9 Laser Design was founded by Richie Campbell — a former deputy sheriff and first responder — during a time of personal and professional transition. Seeking a new source of income to continue supporting his family, Richie was also driven by a deeper purpose: to create meaningful employment and a sense of purpose for his adult son with Down Syndrome.

Understanding the need for safer, more flexible work that would allow him to be present as a caretaker, Richie discovered laser cutting — a craft that quickly became both a passion and a business. With a strong commitment to supporting his local community, he began creating custom pieces for nearby businesses, friends, and neighbors.

What started as a small operation quickly grew, resonating with boaters, tourists, wedding parties, boutiques, corporations, and year-round residents throughout the West Michigan Lakeshore. Each piece reflects the region’s charm and lifestyle, making for meaningful décor, personalized business items, and heartfelt gifts.
